See You Later, Dad.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that I may not be around very much for a while.

Back in March, my father was diagnosed with liver cancer. With him having cirrhosis from his time in the Navy, we were preparing ourselves for the worst. Since then, he went through a course of chemo and then had the tumour successfully removed.
On Sunday, my father was taken to the ICU with kidney failure. After a transfer to a larger hospital, we found out he’d picked up an infection that has gone septic, and both kidneys have failed completely.
There is no chance he will survive this. He is already gone even if his body is still alive. He is expected to go at any moment and it is taking its toll on all of us.

My father peacefully passed away at 1 pm CST on July 5th. Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes and thoughts.

I hope you understand if I am distant for a while, or if I am almost constantly on but not sociable. Second Life will either be too much for me or a distraction. I don’t know yet.
There is nothing to be said that will make things better, there is no guidebook for this.
